It doesn\u2019t matter if fertilization is uniform, irrigation is well calculated, or management is correct. These \u201cpatches\u201d keep reappearing. If the soil does not infiltrate water well, if it is compacted, or if roots cannot develop deeply, the crop does not respond the same way across the entire field. Soil is not homogeneous: there may be differences in structure, effective depth, infiltration, or chemical balance within the same plot.<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">One of the most common problems is localized compaction. It may be caused by repeated machinery traffic or areas where more weight is concentrated. The soil loses porosity, less water enters, and roots remain shallow. Even if the same fertilizer dose is applied, the crop cannot use it equally.<\/p><p>In other cases, the problem lies a few centimeters deeper. A hardened layer can prevent water and roots from penetrating. If in certain areas water accumulates or takes too long to penetrate, root asphyxia occurs. The crop experiences stress even if irrigation is correct.<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">Structural problems related to sodicity or soil imbalances can also play a role. When structure degrades, the soil seals, surface crusts form, and infiltration decreases. Over time, these areas become weak spots that consistently yield less.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-68ded1e5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"68ded1e5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">MORE FERTILIZER IS NOT THE SOLUTION<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-19e33ace elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"19e33ace\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"translation-block\">When an area produces less, the usual reaction is to increase fertilization. However, when the problem is physical or structural, additional fertilizer does not solve the cause. If roots cannot properly explore the soil or water does not circulate correctly, part of that investment is wasted.<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">Therefore, before increasing doses, it is worth asking whether the soil is allowing the crop to make use of what is already being applied. When patches repeat season after season, the solution lies in acting on the soil.
